Baby Shower
Chris' mom had a baby shower for us last Saturday. It was fun. Got lots of good gifts. His aunts came up from Jacksonville and the other came down from South Carolina. It was nice to see all of them. Janie's friend came down from North Carolina and she helped alot. She got the coolest robe for Kane. I think that was our favorite gift. She also brought down a three tiered diaper sculpture. It was really neat. Nikki, Mom, and Grandma Brady sent me almost everything we need to decorate the nursery. Chris' parents had a zoo at their house. I bet they were glad when everyone finally went home and they got some peace. The boys hung out on the back deck until the girls were done and then everyone just hung out all night. I actually managed to stay awake until 1am. That is really late for me. We got our crib in. I love it. I looked at a million cribs and for some reason this one just stuck with me. Chris' parents were so awesome and bought it for us. Once we get the nursery finished I will post a picture of it. Chris put it together on his day off Tuesday all by himself and didn't complain once. He has been so great during this pregnancy.

Update
Well my 1st diabetes test came back positive so they made me do the 4 hour test yesterday. Man was I thirsty by the time it was done. I am used to drinking a couple bottles of water by noon and I couldn't eat or drink anything. But I just got a call from the Dr. office and they said everything is fine. So I don't have that to worry about. I thought man if I have that I am going to have a huge baby. They said that is one of the side effects and I am sure I will already end up with a 10 lb boy. Things are still going good. I have just been extremely tired but they said my iron was very low so they put me on a prescription. So hopefully that will help a little with that. It is just so darn hot down here. I don't last outside very long.
Izzy is feeling better. She is now chasing Macamoe and Tweek around the house. She is having a good time but they sure aren't. Mac finally popped her upside the head. And Mac is very protective of her blanket. She won't let Izzy on it at all. It is funny. Tweek runs and hides from her. I think they liked it better when she was slow moving and sleeping all the time. Izzy had her first minor injury when Chris got her in the back of the recliner chair. I think it just scared her and me. She is just so darn small and gets in bad places. But I am sure she will be bigger soon.
Chris got the nursery painted today. It is bright blue. It will look good when we get everything in it. I think Chris has had enough of painting. But we are good for now. I will do the bathrooms after Kane is born and then we will be all done. House is looking really good. Chris has done a great job.

Kane Update
Went to the Dr today for monthly checkup. Everything looks good. He is going to be a big baby. Imagine that. They guessed that he weights about 2 lbs 9 ozs already. She said my belly measures a week ahead of where I am. He was stubborn today and we didn't get any good ultrasound pictures. He had his back to us and didn't want to turn over. I had my diabetes test today also, but won't get results for a couple days. That drink wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made it sound. It just tasted like flat sprite. It was the warm part that I didn't like. I like all my drinks ice cold. I didn't gain any weight last month. That made me happy. Starting to get a bit nervous. Seems like it is getting close fast.
Izzy & Macamoe
Macamoe has come around. She will hang out with Izzy now. But still doesn't want to eat at the same time as Izzy. We have had a rough couple days with Izzy. On Friday we took her to the vet for a checkup to make sure she was healthy. The vet said she looked good. All her blood tests came back negative but she had a little cold. Vet said she was taken away from her mom to young so her system was weak. She is only about 6 weeks old. Over the weekend it turned into a respiratory infection. I wasn't prepared to deal with sick kitten so soon after Marvin being sick. 1st thing Monday morning I took her back to the vet. They gave her an iv and some steroids. The last 3 days I had to feed and water her with a syringe. Because kittens won't eat if they can't smell. I wish it was that simple for humans. But this morning we had a breakthrough. She ate like a crazy cat. She has eaten 3 times today. She still sounds wheezy but at least she is eating and drinking now. I think I am being trained for Kane. We did the sauna in the bathroom thing this weekend trying to clear up her congestion. My friend said just get ready for when the baby starts having these issues. This afternoon she charged at Macamoe. Mac didn't care for that to much. I think another day or two she will be acting like a kitten again.

New addition to family...Izzy
Well I ended up with the 1st kitten that loved on me. I named her Izzy. She is so tiny. She is only like 6 weeks old. We got her at the pound. I was holding her and she was purring like crazy. I ended up holding her the entire time we were looking at other kittens and cats there were so many of them. Then the guy came in and asked if we found one and I was like this one and left the room. I don't think it was the one Chris wanted. That was a horrible trip. I ended up crying. There were so many cats wanting attention. Then there was one big one that looked like Marvin and I wanted him so bad but I knew there was no way Macamoe would take to an adult. I just think it is horrible to see the adult cats because they were probably loved at one time and now they are just stuck in a cage. I ended up crying a couple times that day. It was rough. Macamoe isn't to happy about this one but she ended up sleeping with her in bed with us and didn't know it. Mac hasn't tried to attack her but does growl. She is sitting closer to her now so we are making progress. I wasn't going to let the kitten sleep with us because I didn't want to upset Macamoe. She sleeps with us every night. But within 5 minutes of being in bed she found us. She is so small though it scares me sleeping with her. She wants to wedge herself right up to Chris' back. I keep waking up to make sure he hasn't rolled over on her. She is an absolute lover. Chris thinks she was a great pick now. But we created a monster already because every time she would cry we picked her up so now she wants to be held all the time. She loves to lay on your chest. She has stripes like Macamoe but has white feet, belly, and nose/chin. One of her legs is orange stripped and she has orange spots. She goes to the vet tomorrow to get checked out really good. I am not looking forward to going back to that place. I started crying just making the appointment because the girl was like oh I am so sorry about Marvin. They loved him there. Chris said I need to wear a sign that says don't mention Marvin. I am going to see if they can trim her little claws because she keeps getting hung up on blankets and stuff.

Marvin Passing
I lost my buddy Marvin this morning. It is amazing how attached you get to a pet. I have been crying all day. He had been sick for the last three weeks but you wouldn't have know it until this last week. We thought he was doing good and then all of the sudden this weekend he crashed. We thought he was making a turn around last night and then he passed this morning. I was holding out hope until that last phone call. I thought he was going to be coming home today. Didn't know it would be like this.
Marvin was the most lovable cat I had ever met. If you made a kissing sound he would put his head down and rub it against your face. He loved kisses and he would love to rub heads with you. He didn't care who you were or what you were. He was friends with everyone. Even the dogs. In fact over the last year I think he thought he was one of the dogs. He started hanging out with them outside and when you would drive up he would run up and greet you with the dogs. He loved to sleep on your pillow with you. Sometimes you would wake up and he would be looking at you. He always wanted to be with people. I knew he was going to be great with Kane but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Macamoe and him grew up together. She is going to miss him also. I am going to really miss my fuzzy guy.

Visit to Nebraska
In May we got a short visit to Nebraska. We came home to see Stacey get married. It was nice to see family but it was a really short trip. Because of work we only got to take a couple days. We plan to come home much longer in December. Chris was happy to get to see Alivia. He thinks she is a cool kid.

Baby Update
Had a visit with the Dr. yesterday. Everything is great with Kane. Now Shannon is another story. I have put on 40lbs! I told the Dr. I was getting really fat and she was like you look good. Then she looked at the chart and was like oh my gosh. She told me I put on 40 lbs and I didn't believe her so she showed me the charts. I was like oh man. So last night it was two miles on the treadmill. Kane is moving like crazy. Chris still hasn't been able to feel him because he stops moving when I put his hand on my belly. He was stubborn yesterday when they went to get his heartbeat. He was kicking the microphone thing. But then he finally let them hear his heart and it was good. We go back in a month for an ultrasound and the wonderful diabetes test. Looking forward to drinking that gunk. Did get some disappointing news. My Dr. is pregnant and due two weeks before me. So I am really bummed about that. I love her. But she said she will be there up to the last month of my pregnancy and will be back for my return visits after the baby. She is having a c-section so she knows when she will be out. The Dr. doing her care is one that I may have so I guess if she trusts him it should be ok. Well that is all for now. Gotta go hit the treadmill.
Kayak
Last weekend we decided to take a Kayak trip down the Ogeechee River. We went with a couple that we hang out with and their daughter. It was about 7 miles and took about 5 hours. The first 5 miles were alot of fun. There was a current so you barely had to paddle. We would stop every so often on sandbars and swim and eat. It was alot of fun. Then the last two miles were bad. There was no current at all. We had to paddle a ton. I wasn't used to working out. I have gotten very lazy. It was really pretty though. But we both learned a lesson in sun tan lotion. REAPPLY! I ended up with sun poisoning on my feet and ankles. I couldn't walk for two days. It was horrible. It looked like I had diabetes. I didn't have ankles for almost 5 days. I had sun burns before but nothing like this. My feet are just now getting their normal color back. But we have been working a ton and Chris has been doing alot around the house so the trip was a good break.

Painting
The one thing we have to do to the interior is paint all the rooms. The people that lived here were nail crazy. There were nails everywhere and they used anchors that were huge. So we had to do a day of just pulling nails and patching holes. I also took down the border in the living room and dining room. Chris painted the living, dining, and kitchen and we both loved how it turned out. Now when we get time we have to paint the spare bedrooms and master bath. Then buy new appliances for the kitchen and new hardware for the cabinets and we will pretty much be done with the interior. Other then getting new blinds but that is a want not a need. We both have alot of wants but I am sure everyone knows how that goes. One of the best things is that there are two porch swings. I have always wanted a porch swing. I like to go sit out there. It is peaceful. We are just really happy right now. Things are falling into place nicely.
New House
Here are some pictures of the new house. We love it. It has some minor cosmetic things that we need to do but we can probably get most of them done in the next month. It is still kind of a mess inside the house because we just moved in and then went back to NE and Chris hasn't had a day of since we got back. It is really hot down here so I am limited on what I can do outside. So as soon as we get the spare bedrooms painted I will go to town putting things away and decorating. I can't wait.

Stubborn already!
They did the 3d pictures but I think they are kind of creepy. He is still really skinny so it looks weird to me. I prefer the regular black and white. He is already stubborn. He had his hand in front of his face and didn't want to move it so the lady keep pushing on him and that must have upset him because he rolled over and gave us his backside and didn't want to roll back. I started feeling him move on the ride home from the airport on Tuesday. I thought it was him but couldn't decide. Then when we went to the Dr I thought I felt him again and when she did the ultrasound he was kicking right where I felt it. Which lucky for me is on my bladder. Everything looked really good and he appears healthy so far. Although I now know why you shouldn't lay on your back for long periods of time. I have never been sick until we were doing the ultrasound. Because he was being stubborn and it was taking so long I almost blacked out. It came on fast I just started sweating and thought I was going to get sick. We had to get me up and get some water. I felt better after a couple minutes but it scared me. The Dr and ultrasound tech said the pressure of the baby and her pushing on me puts pressure on your aorta. But all was good after a couple minutes. We are just really excited. Chris couldn't even wait to leave the room before he started text messaging people.
It's a boy!!!

Baby Update
We had out monthly appointment on Wed and so far everything is good. Baby had a good heartbeat and Dr said everything felt good in my belly. We also went and looked at day cares. That is kind of scary. The first one we went to we didn't like at all. We left and were like oh my gosh. We went to one up the road a bit and loved it right away. Didn't even need to look any further. It was awesome. Cost was a bit more but well worth it. It was more then I could have ever wished for. We are on the list so I hope and pray we get in. We scheduled our next appointment for May 23rd. We are going to find out the sex of the baby then. I can't wait.

Don't know if boy or girl yet
Although it does look like a little boy we don't know what the baby is yet. That is just part of the cord in the picture. Unfortunately we still have to wait about 6 weeks to find out what the sex is. We are hoping to know before we come home in May but might not because of the date of our ultrasound.

12 Week Ultrasound
Well the baby has all it's parts. You could see the little fingers. We thought it was a fist at first but when you looked close it was just the tiny fingers. Everything looks good so far. I don't know how well you will be able to see these pictures.

Little one update
We had our 12 week appointment on Thursday. They couldn't find the heartbeat so we did an ultrasound. You can see it's little head now. It is actually starting to look like something. You can see the cord also. Only 6 more weeks and we will finally know what we are having. We are dying to know. But so far everything with the baby looks good.
March 22, 2008
The mounds of dirt are about 10-15 ft wide. Those are roots of trees pulled out of the ground. There was alot of damage to peoples houses but I didn't want to take pictures of those. I feel sorry for some of them they got hit hard. There was a cool story though about two Jack Russell's getting sucked up but they were found the next day a mile away with no injuries. Tornado's do some weird things.
Golf ball hail fell. Both of our cars have damage. We are going today to get an insurance estimate and check for Chris' truck.
It seemed to follow the electric towers. There were about 10 destroyed like this that I saw.

More Crazy Weather
Had another weekend of crazy weather. Chris went to Gainesville with his dad for the NHRA Races. The kids and I were just hanging out watching tv on Saturday night when I heard a loud bang on the roof. Out of nowhere it started hailing golf balls and raining. While the cats and Mindy the dog ran for cover Tweek and I went to the front porch to watch. Little did I know that there was a tornado 2 miles in front of me and another about 5 miles beside me. I had no clue until the next day. We lost power until the next morning. But we were lucky. Chris called from his parents house on Sunday afternoon so I could come pick him up. When I started to drive down the road it was closed. I was like what in the world. So I called Chris to tell him that I had to go around it would be a little longer. When I turned the corner I was like oh my gosh. I said it looks like a dang tornado came through here. Chris said it did. My heart jumped to think I was standing on the front porch while this was going on. It looked like a warzone. But we were lucky. Nobody was killed and all our friends and coworkers only had minimal damage. Some still don't have power but they are just thankful to still have a house. There were some houses completely gone. And the electric towers were just rolled up into balls of metal. We both have hail damage to our cars. Chris' truck is really bad so we put in insurance claims. But we can't deal with the local office because this is considered a catastrophe. So this should be fun getting the cars fixed. I guess sometimes you just have to feel lucky. It could have been so much worse.

Elton John
Elton John came to Savannah on Wed. We were so excited. It sold out in 7 minutes. But I was able to get tickets by logging on to the net when they first went on sale. It was a great show. We were 1 section over from where he was on the stage and about 30 rows up. It was awesome. He can play the heck out of a piano. If you ever get the chance to see him it is well worth it.

Bad Weather
We had crazy weather this weekend. It started on Friday with tornado's. Saturday it was just crazy windy. We had big tree's fall down at our house. It took out the power lines so I was without electricity all day. It is kind of scary to think that those tree's could have fallen on a car driving by. And there is no where to park your car that is safe because your house is surrounded by big trees. I was sick all weekend. There is a nasty cold/flu going around. Even my poor little Macamoe has it. She can't stop sneezing. I feel bad for her. I feel a little better today. But there is not much I can eat that doesn't make me feel sick. Maybe my luck has run out and the symptoms are starting.
March 6, 2008
Nothing New
Well nothing new. So far I have been really lucky. Only symptom is wanting to sleep all the time. I was already a napper and it has gotten worse. I count down to nap time everyday. Right now I have 20 minutes until I can leave work and go take a nap. Chris is dying to know if it is a boy or girl. He is counting down the weeks. I think he actually wants to know more then I do and I want to know bad. But it will probably still be 7 more weeks before we can find out. It will be a long 7 weeks. We are both really excited. I was already putting on weight before I got pregnant so I am afraid I am going to be the blimp by the time this is done. I am trying to walk 2 miles a day on the treadmill at an incline so hopefully that will help some.

Baby Heartbeat
We are having a baby. We had our first ultrasound today. We wanted to wait to hear the heartbeat before telling everyone we were pregnant. The baby had a very strong heart beat and all tests looked good. It was exciting and a relief. Lots of stress lifted. Due date is Oct. 18th.
Feb 5th I took a home test that said pregnant. I went to the Dr that day and their test said not pregnant. I told her I was sure something was going on. So we did blood work and that said I was pregnant for sure.
Feb 8th we had to do more blood work. Those numbers came back really high which was a great sign.
Feb 15th did blood work again. Numbers were great. Scheduled our first ultrasound for the 27th.
