Kane eating baby food

We started giving Kane baby food on Tuesday. He loves carrots and eats the peas. He is doing really good. Still got to get him to understand how to eat it without using the tongue so much. He pushes alot out. But he ate a good amount. I think we are going to have a big boy!

Kane to Dr again

The 1st three days we were in Nebraska Kane seemed to be feeling worse each day. He was throwing up alot and crying alot again. So we went to see a pediatrician here. She was extremely nice. Liked her alot better then the dr's we have in Savannah. She sent us over to St. Elizabeth to run a test on Kane's stomach and valve. It was really neat to watch. His valve looked good but he was full of gas/air. Dr. at the hospital thinks that is why he is so uncomfortable. They changed his medicine a little bit and told us to give it to him a different way. They didn't think he was getting it because he was throwing up so much. He is slowly getting better. He was great the last two days. Still a little fussy but seems to be much happier.

Kane meeting Grandpa for 1st time

Kane on 1st road trip

Road Trip to Nebraska

Man is it going to be a long trip home. I think we have scared Kane for life of the car seat. We decided to drive overnight so he would sleep most of the way. And that he did. Until we got to Saint Louis. Which is about 6 hours away. From then on it was screaming. He wanted out of his car seat. When we would stop and take him out he would smile and laugh and was happy as could be. But the second we put him back in he started screaming. It was miserable. I felt so bad for the little guy. Nothing I could do would calm him down. For about an hour if I shook his car seat he would close his eyes. But the second I stopped shaking it he would wake up and scream. I thought my arms were going to fall off. When we got up here it was 4 degrees. When we left Georgia it was 77. Now I know why I moved.

Kane with his bandaids on legs from shots

Kane 8 week visit

Kane had his checkup on Thursday. Dr. said he is a big boy. He weighed 13lbs 6ozs and is 24 inches long. Dr. said normally he would tell us to start trying cereal but since Kane has already been doing that for a month now he told us we could try veggies. He said he is about at the stage a 3-4 month should be at. He got his shots and boy did he hate that he held his breathe and changed all sorts of colors. The nurse did a great job at doing them quick. He was a little crabby that day but by the next morning was in a really good mood. We did have to switch medication again and are back to 5 doses a day. We go back to the specialist next month. We just can't seem to get his valve to do its job. He seems to be alot happier but is still spitting up like crazy. He usually starts to wimper before he does it so there is some pain there but alot less then before.

Kane with daddy...so happy now!

I have become a mattress. I guess I am good for something.

Bear not Monkey

So the toy is a bear not a monkey. It just hit me this morning when I was looking at it. Kane is a blast now. He laughed and smiled all day. He went to lunch with me and 3 female friends and just ate up the attention. He is just so darn cute and I don't just say that because he is mine. I get told all the time that he is beautiful. I can't wait to see how much he weighs at his next appointment. He is starting to get some rolls on his legs and arms. And man does he have cheeks. He started trying to grab stuff today. I think he will be a smart one. He is doing so good we are down to medicine 3 times a day and he doesn't have to see the specialist until next month. He still spits up alot but doesn't seem to be in pain. I just can't wait for everyone to meet him.

Great News for Kane

No surgery! Kane has been a new baby the last three days. It has been wonderful but it is weird getting used to it. I have to get used to what he wants now when he fusses. He is such a happy baby now. He gained a lb in just a week so the doctor said that means that his valve is doing enough. He is now over 12 lbs. He is still spitting up but he doesn't seem to be in any pain anymore. He ate 50 ozs in one 24 hour period! The nurse was shocked. But I think we topped him off because he is not eating nearly that much now. The doctor is leaving him on double the drugs for now to try and get rid of the irritation from the acid. He said it will take a while to heal up all the damage. But after a couple weeks we will just give him medicine in the morning as a preventative measure. The funny part of the visit was when the nurse didn't put Kane's diaper back on and put the stethoscope on his chest. He peed in her face and all over. It was funny. You would think she would know better. Since Kane loves laying on the floor we got him a little monkey toy that hangs above him. He loves it. He laughs and talks to it. It plays music and lights up when he kicks it. Just have to keep Izzy away from it.

Kane

Well we were back at the doctor this morning. The last two days were horrible. He screamed all day long and didn't sleep at night. We are going more aggressive on the medication and going to start feeding him cereal. He seems much happier today lets hope this is actually working and not just one of those days that give us hope. I hate it when we get hope and then the next couple days are horrible. I just hope this stuff works. It is getting really frustrating. Wish us luck. He has started smiling at us alot now. So that is really fun.

Kane getting down

Kane Sick - Not colic

Last three days were hell. Kane was the worst he has ever been. He even started throwing up. When I would finally get him to sleep he would wiggle around and whimper. Sometimes he would scream and then go back to sleep. Yesterday morning I finally reached my breaking point. I had a huge breakdown and called the doctor and said he has to do something for the poor little guy. He said bring him in right away. So I did and after looking him over and listening to the symptoms he thought there was an issue with his stomach. So he took us over to another building with the gastro specialist. We did an ultrasound and it looks like his stomach valves are not working right. So when things are suppose to be going out the bottom of his stomach they are coming up the top. Alot of time it requires surgery. But we are going to try medication for a week and see if that will help the muscles. I just knew this wasn't colic. I am just mad it took so long to figure it out. It was a long day yesterday. I was at the doctor and hospital for almost 6 hours. But at least we can get him some relief. He was really good last night so I don't know if he was just having a good night or if the medication already helped. He is really happy this morning so far. Except for when I gave him a bath. He hates being naked. Poor guy had to get naked 4 times yesterday. He was not a happy kid. We go back on Tuesday to run another ultrasound and see how things look. Lets hope the medication helps.

Kane Update

I think we may be making progress. Kane has been pretty happy the last couple days. He is sleeping much better at night and doesn't have to be carried all the time. He finally started drinking his bottles without gulping them so fast he spits it up. The last two days he didn't even need a bib. Before he acted like he was starving and would go nuts drinking them and lose most of it. It feels like we are settling in finally. It is a nice feeling.

Izzy Busted!

I guess it took all of her energy to pull down his toys. She is lucky she is cute or she would be dead by now.
Well I got him to sleep in his crib finally last night. It took over an hour to get him to stay there but I did it. I guess carrying him around all the time is helping me lose weight. I am down almost 40 lbs already. I was able to fit into my before pregnancy jeans on Sunday. That was exciting. Kane has been at his worst the last two days. He really broke me down yesterday. The previous night I had a wonderful 3am feeding. He threw up down my shirt. And I am talking a bunch. Then I finally get changed and get him changed and go to put on his new diaper and when I lifted up his legs he shoots poo everywhere. So we got to change again. Ah the joys of parenthood. I was so happy when Chris got home from work and held him for a little bit last night. It will be nice when Chris gets his normal schedule back. He has worked the last 11 days. He is gone at 5am and doesn't get home until almost 8pm. This morning Kane has been fun. I need to get some video of him. He is holding his head up and looking around alot now.

Kane

My little man has broken me down. I have started letting him sleep with me in the spare bedroom at night. He got stubbornness from Chris and I and he can hold out alot longer then I can at 3 in the morning. At this point I just want some sleep. I like to watch him wake up in the morning. It takes him forever. He stretches and makes the funniest faces. Chris has had to work the last 10 days and still counting. They are in an outage at work and he has to work until they come back up. So I am on my own at night. I have probably created a monster because I hold him all the time but if it keeps him from crying it is worth it. He loves to sleep on my chest. I just had him there for a little over and hour but started sweating so finally put him to bed. I just love to stare at him. He is the cutest little thing ever. And he curls his tongue up when he sleeps. It cracks me up. He is really starting to watch things and listen to you talk. We played with the rattle yesterday and today we got out a toy that played songs and he watched that. I can't believe he is almost a month old already.

Everyone want's each others beds. Kids!

Izzy

Izzy cat is crazy. She has such personality. She is a little thief. Last night she took off with a dvd sleeve that was sitting on the coffee table. Then she came out of Kane's room dragging a bear that is bigger then her. She won't leave it alone. When mom and Nikki were here Izzy stole Nikki's money off the bed and got into mom's makeup. The other day she took my glasses of the bathroom counter and I found them in the kitchen. She has stolen Kane's pacifier more then once. She has grown alot but is still alot smaller then Macamoe. They are playmates now. Macamoe acts like a kitten around her. I swear it is like having two kids at night. That is when Izzy seems to come to life. She is very entertaining though. And she likes to cuddle at times. Unlike Macamoe. Izzy could care less about Kane. But when he is screaming Macamoe gets upset. She came out the other day and I was holding him in the recliner. She gently reached up and put her paw on his head and then walked away. Then last night she came over and licked the top of his head and went away. It is crazy to watch.

Kane

Kane is talking away today. He is in a really good mood. The last couple days he has started sitting in his swing. He hated it before. He is really following things with his eyes now. I noticed it yesterday when we went for our walk that he looked at a toy hanging from his stroller handle. It is starting to get to the fun stuff of watching him learn and change. We started reading on Monday. I am hoping I can help him be smarter then I was.

Kane Update

Had our two week checkup today. He has grown and inch and is now 9 lbs 14 ozs. He is healthy other then the colic. The Dr said since he has it so bad we are going to try Zantac and see if that helps. He also gave me another formula. He said we are going to have to try and play the formula game to help him out a bit. He thinks that even though he is not throwing up alot he has a bit of acid reflux.

Kane and Daddy in Florida Gear

Kane

Kane slept most of the night last night and has been an angel today. I am hoping he is going to give us a 5 day break like he did last week. It is just so weird to me that he can go from being so unhappy to being the happiest most alert baby around. Today is a big football game for Florida. They are playing Georgia and both teams are ranked in the top 10. So daddy and Kane have on their Florida gear. It is beautiful weather down here. We just got back from a walk. It is almost 80 degree's and sunny. Kane loves his stroller. He is just a happy little boy today. I was reading to him today and it almost feels like pretty soon he will be responding a little. He looks right at you with those big blue eyes when you talk to him. I just love it when he is alert.

Kane Colic

Well after 3 days of screaming and Kane only getting about 2 hours of sleep in 36 hours we took him to the hospital last night to see if there was something else wrong. They said it was just a bad case of colic. We have tried everything they suggested and nothing helps. He hates the vibrating chair, doesn't want skin to skin or being wrapped up tight, tried the gas drops, tried the gripe water and nothing. So I guess we will just have to end up in the nut house. Not a fun way to have a 1st child. But man when he does stop screaming he is absolutely precious. I feel so bad for the little guy. He looks like he is in horrible pain. Hopefully this will pass soon and not drag out for months.

1st Walk

Family Visit

Kane

Kane is settling in. I don't think he had colic. He has been sleeping about 3-4 hours at a time at night. He just doesn't like to go to sleep. We are learning new tricks. He has had an upset belly. The Dr gave him some special formula. So hopefully this will pass. Mom & Nikki came down for a visit. They left this morning and I was really sad. It is going to be hard raising Kane so far from home. But it was a great visit and we were able to go out to dinner on Saturday while mom babysat.

NO SCREAMING LAST NIGHT!

Last night was great. Kane was an angel. Didn't scream at all. So we haven't tried the vibrating chair yet. We are saving it for an emergency. He has been wide awake all day today. I like it when he is alert like this. We have been hanging out while daddy cleans and goes to the store.

Kane Bath Time

Kane

Kane Update

Well it has been a tough couple days. Kane has colic. So every night around 8pm he just starts screaming. It breaks our hearts because he looks like he is in such pain and we can't help him. Sunday night we called the nursery at the hospital around 2am and the lady told me to take his cloths off and have him lay on Chris' chest with his shirt off. It worked like a charm. He slept like that for 5 hours. But Monday night no luck. Monday night after about 3 hours of screaming he wanted to be wrapped up like a burrito and snuggled. That worked great for several hours. Last night neither worked. He liked sitting in his car seat on the washer so Chris is going today to get the vibrating chair. We also did the drive around the country at midnight. Gosh I sure hope it works. 1st time parents should never have a colicky baby because it will be their last. Izzy is funny she sleeps right on the couch next to us and it doesn't even bother her at all that he is screaming. The dogs hate it. Macamoe just hides.
But during the day he is a perfect angel. I still like to just stare at him. He is perfect. Went to the Dr yesterday and both of us are doing good. I am healing up and haven't had to take any pain meds for 2 days now. I just need to realize not to try and do to much. You know when you have. Kane is healthy and doing great.
